Description

Moray CAB provides independent, impartial, free and confidential information and advice to the community of Moray.

Volunteer advisers interview clients, find the relevant information on our information system and explain this to the client so they can make an informed decision on what action to take. Advisers can also provide practical support such as assisting to complete forms or contacting other agencies on a clients behalf. The adviser would also make a record of the clients' visit and the advice given and actions taken so further support can be provided should the client need to return.

Each of our sessions runs for 3 hours and volunteers would ideally attend two sessions per week, but this is flexible.

Training details: Volunteers can begin by shadowing existing volunteers to get a taste of what is involved. Volunteer adviser training usually runs twice a year with new courses beginning each March and September and runs for around 10 weeks which is followed by a period of supported working. Online training is available to supplement the in bureau training and once qualified more specialist training is available on an ongoing basis. Advice and support is always available to volunteer advisers from session supervisors and other bureau staff.
