Play Schemes Volunteer Activity Assistant April 2020

We are recruiting volunteers, minimum age 16 years, for our child services spring school holidays' play schemes. A minimum of two days volunteering commitment is required:

6th–9th April 2020
13th-16th April 2020

Volunteers will receive an induction and will be under supervision at all times and will be involved in supporting primary school age children, with a range of learning disabilities such as autism, in a variety of creative, fun and practical activities such as arts and crafts, music, drama, dance and baking. You may like to share your own hobbies or interests with the children, such as music or football or help with an outing to the local swimming pool, soft play area or a trip further afield to Edinburgh or the Ayrshire coast

This opportunity takes place during school holidays and is short term volunteering


Volunteers must undergo a Disclosure PVG check which is organised by Cosgrove at no cost to the volunteer
Experience required: None, volunteers will be fully supervised at all times by paid staff.
Travel details: Fenwick Road, just a 5 minute walk from our head office at May Terrace, Giffnock, G46 6LD and a short walk from Giffnock train station (no. 38 bus)

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We reimburse travel costs on receipt of tickets and pay £0.45 per mile if using own vehicle
Taster details: Unable to provide a taster as the opportunity is only available during school holidays and vols must be PVG checked
Training details: Induction training session prior to starting. Ongoing supervision by paid staff to enable the volunteer to perform the tasks well and ongoing support from Cosgrove's Volunteer Co-ordinator
