Do you agree that every person who has a learning disability should have the choice and control to live the life they choose?

Aberdeen ENABLE Branch are looking for enthusiastic, committed volunteers to help at their weekly 'Pop Club' for adults with a Learning Disability from all over Aberdeen. The Branch has been running social activities in the city for nearly 60 years and there are currently around fifty members of the club.

There are a number of tasks on the night at the club such as: welcoming people arriving and collecting money, making tea and coffee and serving tables, playing music, interacting with members of the club and seeing members off safely and tidying the hall afterwards. Activities Volunteers are required to help with these tasks on the night.

The club meets fortnightly on a Friday night at the Rosemount Community Centre in Aberdeen (AB25 2NS) from 7.00 until 9.30

Throughout the volunteering opportunity you will gain new skills and experience working with people who have a Learning Disabilities, their families and carers. You will also have lots of fun helping to create an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Aberdeen Branch policy. Volunteers will be given an induction by the Branch Committee.

If you are interested but would like to visit the Pop Club for a 'taster session' - this can be arranged as well.

ENABLE Scotland is a dynamic charity run by its members. We campaign for a better life for children and adults who have learning disabilities. We support people who have learning disabilities and their families to live, work and take part in their communities. We provide a growing range of person centred services designed to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the people using these services. We make sure that children and adults with learning disabilities and their carers are at the heart of everything that we do.

Restrictions

Experience required: Volunteers will come from a wide range of backgrounds and will have many different qualities and skills. Essential qualities for this role are an enthusiastic and positive attitude and being a team player.

Voluntary Workshop Assistants

As a Voluntary Workshop Assistant you will become part of a team within our farm and gardens, set in beautiful surroundings 5miles outside of Aberdeen city centre and close to the Deeside Railway line. The opportunity does not require you to have previous experience, we just ask that you are caring, patient and willing to help our pupils, have an interest in people and different ways of communications. Our pupils age from 12-25 years old and as part of your position, you will be with them when they attend the various workshops (woodwork, metal, weavery, felt, candle, pottery, bike and Fruver- our food workshop)as part of their personalised daily routines and assist them with their tasks. Training provided in induction and support given throughout the volunteering time within Camphill School Aberdeen. Outdoor Education Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

Technical Set Up volunteer (Disco, Movies & Karaoke)

UNIQUE Friends Together is a Community Group based in Ayr in the south west of Scotland. Our purpose is to promote inclusivity and integration for young people aged 16 to 30 with additional support needs. We do this by organising and running safe and accessible social events and activities such as disco, karaoke, games, cinema, trips etc. New people are always welcome to come along to any of our events - we love seeing new faces. The group is run entirely by volunteers and managed by a small committee of five Trustees. Our trustees and event volunteers include parents/guardians of young people with ASN. We are looking for a volunteer who can provide the technical know how to set up equipment for our various social activities and events, for example discos, cinema/movie nights and karaoke. We have regular social events every second Friday evening with occasional activities happening from time to time. These events provide fun, friendship and social inclusion for the young people who come along. We are based in Heathfield Community Centre in Ayr and the events take place there. We need someone with the technical know how and a few hours to spare as a volunteer to help us make sure that we can deliver events as promised. This is a great opportunity to share your technical wizardry and make sure our activities are well set up and successful! Interested? Could this be you?
