Volunteer Minibus Driver

  • VO58840

We need a mini bus driver for term time Friday afternoons to transport Primary School pupils to ‘Hoofbeats’ unique equine based out of school activity held at Dryden Farm near Ashkirk.

The changes in the school timetable means that the school week now ends at lunchtime on Friday. This change gave us the opportunity to generate income by introducing our Hoofbeats club to all primary age pupils in the Selkirk area. The ‘Pony Cadets’ are encouraged to enjoy the fascinating journey of understanding ponies, learning to care and look after them through a range of activities, gain new riding and personal skills, take proficiency certificates, whilst making new friends and getting fit!

This volunteer will support the charity by collecting the pupils from school and delivering them to the farm for the afternoon session.

The volunteer driver would be tasked with collecting the 16 seater Scout Group Mini bus from Earlston at 11.30 a.m. Pickups would then be made at Clovenfords Primary School (4 pupils), Knowepark PS Selkirk (3 pupils) and Philiphaugh PS Selkirk (2 pupils). The driver would then take them to Dryden Farm near Ashkirk arriving at approx. 1.15 pm. The bus would then be filled up at Selkirk Petrol Station and returned to Earlston estimated arrival time of 2pm. Overall driving approx. 60 miles and 11.30 am to 2.00pm.

Drivers must be confident that they can take care and control of up to 10 primary age pupils for the duration of the journey

The Scouts have a Mini Bus Policy. See earlstonscoutgroup.org.uk We will arrange a PVG check for the volunteer(s)
