Victim Service Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who have a range of skills to provide a service to victims of crime by home visits, office appointments and over the phone. Volunteers are needed to listen to victims of crime, identify any needs they might have and provide practical and emotional support. The volunteers will also assist with completing Criminal Injuries Compensation forms and offer help when victims are dealing with insurance claims. They also provide information on the criminal justice system. We recruit and train our volunteers 3-4 times per year.

Organisation aims and objectives

To improve and increase knowledge about victims and witnesses through research studies, projects, appropriate publicity and information materials.










Two to four hours per week for a minimum of 1 year.


They need to have the ability to abide by Victim Support Scotland policies & procedures, listen and help victims and accept regular support and supervision. Volunteers with also require a PVG check.
Experience required: Volunteers should have a desire to help others, be non-judgemental and able to keep information of a confidential nature.
Travel details: Throughout Edinburgh & East Lothian This opportunity is accessible by foot by bus by car and by train.

Expenses details: Travel and lunch expenses are paid for either daily or monthly.
Training details: Volunteers must complete a training course and on-the-job training will be on-going. After completing the training, volunteers will complete a probationary period.
