Description

This opportunity is for volunteers to get involved with older people in the wider Shotts and Wishaw areas, offering one to one befriending, telephone befriending or group befriending.

Organisation aims and objectives

To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Greater Shotts area.Involve local people in defining, supporting, managing + using existing services to improve their health. Establish a food co-op, breakfast clubs, Health and leisure initiatves. Creation of Healthy Living Centre and eight information points - centre to include - Food co-op, cyber/healthy eating cafe, smoking cessation, drugs + alcohol counselling, Family Planning

Restrictions

Experience required: No formal experience required but volunteers should have a patient manner, an understanding of the issues facing older people and a willingness to help improve the lives of older people.
Minimum age: 18
