Description

Dundee Survival Group is an organisation which provides accommodation and support for homeless people. Volunteers would be working with the Engagement project, aimed at improving our service, building our service users skills and confidence.

The project is run as a drop in. Volunteers will help with the daily running tasks and supporting service users. The project also runs a programme of workshops, discussions, events and outings. Volunteers are encouraged to develop this programme along side staff and service users.

Peer learning is highly valued and so any skills or interests volunteers hold, we would encourage them to utilise. This may be in art or other creative fields, writing, music, sport, computer skills, cooking e.t.c. Other tasks may be assisting with funding, fund-raising, light admin tasks, outreach and liaising with similar organisations. Support and on the job training will be provided.

To provide temporary supported accommodation for single homeless people. To work towards improving the quality of life for clients whilst accommodated.

Flexible but minimum 1 day a month. Could be a solid block or spread out.

Restrictions

Age limit applies as the client group can often be vulnerable or have restrictions in themselves in regards to their accomodation.
Experience required: Creative, Functional or practical Skills which could be utilised by service users are preferred but are not essential. It is an opportunity for volunteers to gain skills experience and knowledge.
Travel details: Easily accessible. W are situated in the centre of town, a 5 minute walk from the main bus station.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Public Transport is reimbursed at a maximum of £4.70 per day and mileage at £4.00 per day.
Taster details: Only due to PVG, potential volunteers are however able to visit the project before hand.
Training details: Training would be on the job and relevant to the current project/ programme.
