Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to join our dynamic cafe team. Supervised by our chef, volunteers have the opportunity to:

  • be responsible for preparation and serving food and drinks to customers
  • assisting in general cleaning duties
  • help ensure high levels of customer service and hygiene are maintained
  • undertake appropriate training as agreed with the Chef
  • work within our small team of volunteers and clients
  • be involved in cash handling and simple record keeping
    -support clients to undertake the above tasks
    Depending on level of skills and experience may be asked to cover in the absence of the chef.

The cafe currently holds the Healthy Living Award and has an extensive menu of healthy lunch options along with homemade cakes, breads and desserts.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Walled Garden is part PKAVS Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub. Our service provides meaningful activities for clients experiencing a range of mental health issues and going through a recovery process within a work based environment. These activities include our Café, Garden, Creative Arts and Healthy life styles. Volunteers are an essential support for all these activities, helping clients in developing their skills and self-confidence by sharing their skills and experience.

Restrictions

Experience required: We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working volunteers who like working with food and people, and has or would like to gain experience working in the catering industry, Experience is desired but not essential as full training will be provided.
