Hospital/Care Home Therapet Visitors

  • VO54962

Description

Volunteers with happy, healthy pets are needed to make regular visits to the elderly, children and those with disabilities deprived of normal everyday contact with pets.

Those interested in registering for the service are assessed and their pets vetted. Most Therapets and their volunteer owners visit day care centres, hospitals and homes for the elderly close to where an owner lives and are matched to a venue that suits their pets own personality.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Therapet service offers cheer and comfort to those deprived of normal contact with pets. It is operated by Canine Concern Scotland Trust, which also promotes responsible pet ownership through school visits and presentations.
