Description

Volunteers required to join a small team of people to provide medical cover at public events such as half marathons, equestrian events, charity events, concerts dances etc.
Volunteers will be fully trained in all aspects of first aid and ambulance work by experienced trainers.

Organisation aims and objectives

Founded in 1996 as a non-profit organisation, Emergency Care Group provides Medical Cover for any type of event, such as Equestrian, Marathon’s, Cycling events, Concerts, St. Magnus Festival etc. For covering these events we use either a front line ambulance, a 4x4 or a MPV either individually or a mixture of them. Our group consists of varying skilled members from first-aiders right up to highly skilled members. All training is certified and is undertaken ‘in house’, using various pieces of equipment. Full uniform given (except footwear) and full P.P.E.

Restrictions

Although the opportunity is open to Saltire volunteers, they will not be able to undetake any driving duties. NB there are more restrictions on this opportunity - please ask for details.
Minimum age: 5

Support

Expenses details: Volunteer would be provided with refreshments and if the event is outside Kirkwall travel could be arranged in most cases.
Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Shadowing to begin with. Then full first aid at work course (certificated). Additional training as necessary. Volunteers would always be paired with a fully trained exprerienced volunteer.
