Description

Craft Town Scotland is a local charity which has achieved national and international recognition as an innovative and creative base for artisan craft studios, high quality craft exhibitions, educational workshops and other events.
The parent company West Kilbride Community Initiative Limited holds the assets of CTS in trust for the benefit of the village in accordance with the aims stated in the Articles of Association.

Organisation aims and objectives

To advance the arts, heritage and culture, particularly through (but not limited to) increasing opportunities for crafters and designer-makers, and through increasing access to and participation in contemporary craft and design for all. To provide recreational facilities and to organise recreational activities, available to the public at large, with a view to improving their conditions of life, particularly through (but limited to) the promotion of heritage and contemporary craft and design, including holding workshops and providing exhibition, gallery and workshop space;

Experience required: A range of varied skills and backgrounds would be welcomed Interest in arts/ craft/design, Working in the service industries and working with the public, Administration, sales background and/or experience of SAGE
Travel details: The opportunities will mainly be found in the Barony Centre an exciting modern craft centre recently developed in an old and much loved local church building. The Barony Centre is easily accessed by car, train or bus and lies close to the King’s car park at the station end of the village.

Support

Taster details: Informal chat. Familiarisation visit. Talk through Volunteer Handbook. Working alongside more experienced staff. More formal focus/training for specific tasks such as front of house system
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet
