Bike Hub Support Volunteer

  • Support the record keeping systems of the Bike Hub
  • Collect payment for bike hub services
  • Welcome new and repeat participants to Bike Hub events and activities
  • Help to ensure participants have/continue to have a good experience
  • Feed back any issues and concerns to the Cultural Convenor

Organisation aims and objectives

Accessing Big Lottery’s Growing Community Assets funds and using the Land Reform Act, Community Right to Buy legislation to buy the old bank • Initiation and continuation of the cultural programme including the annual Neilston Festival • Establishing a community café in the new premises, run by volunteers • Moving towards a village design statement in collaboration with East Renfrewshire Council and enabling support from Architecture and Design Scotland

Volunteer Trustees

We are a young democratically run organisation that needs to grow. At the moment we are a small group working at projects that reduce waste and we intend that Aberdeen and Shire become zero waste areas. That is, that everything we use becomes part of a circular economy and is not discarded needlessly to be tipped or burned. Currently, our main projects are :- *Go Green Café *Trash to Treasure *Men's Sheds *Planting Fruit Trees for Community Benefit These worthy projects are undertaken alongside family and work commitments but we need to do more if we are to make inroads to the waste we generate each day. That presents exciting opportunities for volunteers. Our next step then, is for more 'Trustees' to join with us to take on an officer of the board role, or to become an ordinary member and help steer the way forward to a successful reduction of waste to zero. Facilities Coordinator to help us reduce our Carbon Footprint

Volunteer Facilities Coordinator (VFC) (maybe suit someone with a background in facilities management or building maintenance or someone about to qualify in their profession) We have recently had an Energy Efficiency Assessment carried out in our project and are looking for a volunteer to help coordinate the workload of sourcing quotes for building works to upgrade the energy efficiency of the project. (Including Air source Heat pumps, Cavity Wall insulation, Roof insulation, replacement windows and doors) In addition we would like the VFC to: • Meet new Suppliers and show around the building • Keep an up to date record / spreadsheet of who has been contacted, prices, timescales etc. • Joint with Management team help project manage and coordinate when work starts. • Meet with Business Manager (in person or online) fortnightly with progress updates • Job would be mainly during the day but admin tasks any time. When you volunteer with us we will pay your travel expenses and offer free training opportunities. We would like you to be part of our team and come along to social nights and away days. You will also have access to join our Edinburgh Leisure discount scheme
