Description

The Pet Bereavement Service is looking for volunteers who have at least 8 hours per month to spare to respond to calls on a support line. The service offers emotional and practical support for pet owners who are finding it difficult to cope with the loss of a pet and need someone to talk to.

Please note: We do not offer a counselling service but through volunteer training, volunteers are equipped with counselling skills.

Organisation aims and objectives

The mission of the Blue Cross Pet Bereavement Support Service (PBSS) is to provide free and confidential emotional support and information to anyone who is affected by the loss, or anticipated loss of a pet or assistance animal through illness, euthanasia, natural death or other circumstances like theft or attack. We commit to providing this telephone support service every day of the year from 8.30am to 8.30pm. We also provide email support and literature. PBSS provides training and advice to veterinary practices nationwide.
