  • Board/trustee role

Without Trustees our scheme wouldn't exist and families and children wouldn't get the support they need. Being a Trustee can be rewarding and gives opportunities for personal development and the chance to give something back to the local community.
Trustees help guide our scheme and contribute to our leadership and direction so staff can manage the day to day work. The Board are responsible for good governance and employ the staff team as well as overseeing the sound management of funds. The Board of Trustees work closely with the staff and work on a variety of things jointly such as fundraising and publicity.

Organisation aims and objectives

Home-Start Kirkcaldy offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children in Kirkcaldy, Kinghorn, Burntisland and Cardenden. Since 1994, they have offered a unique service for families - recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home. Home-visiting volunteers visit a family once a week to help them deal with whatever life throws at them. We support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. We also runa weekly family group, creche and organise trips and outings.

Experience required: Trustees come from all walks of life and you don't need specialist skills or qualifications to be a Trustee - common sense, time, flexibility. The ability to work as part of a team and an understanding of the pressures faced by parents today are just as important to us.
