Food Train provide a low cost home delivery service of grocery shopping to elderly people who aren't able to get out and shop for themselves. Volunteer days are Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays.
If you can spare even one day per month you could shop or drive or help on the van around the Machars area, shopping at Sainsbury or collecting lists or delivering groceries to provide essential supplies and some social contact for elderly people in our area.
Shopping orders are collected on one day then volunteers shop and deliver the next day. Knowledge of the local area helpful but not essential, street maps and full vehicle insurance provided. Out of pocket expenses paid..

Organisation aims and objectives

Food Train provides a range of services, delivered by volunteers, to older people in Scotland including grocery shopping home deliveries, household support services and befriending services.










2 hrs per week or fortnightly or occasionally. 3 month commitment


Experience required: Able to accurately and effectively work from a shopping list!Enjoy meeting our customers

Expenses details: Reimbursement of public transport fares; mileage paid monthly at 45p per mile.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: Induction,, ongoing support from development officer and other volunteers. Annual training day and other training as required.
