Description

The foodbank project has negotiated to collect at 6 of the 9 supermarkets in North Ayrshire. Volunteers can decide which collection event they would like to participate but will always be in teh towns of Largs, Kilbirine, Ardrossan, Saltcoats Stevenson, Irivine where supermarkets are located.

Organisation aims and objectives

we want to see more people helped out of crisis and fewer people needing foodbanks in the future. That’s why The Trussell Trust and local foodbanks are working together to develop new ways to help people out of crisis through programmes like More Than Food.

We would be looking for you to be able to do 6 hours per quarter.

Restrictions

Experience required: Nothing inparticular however must be able to accept that not everyone will want to take a leaflet but be pleasant and patient.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses details: If we get our Big Lottery grant teh expenses will be available currently we operate on shoe string budget and cannot offer this at the moment. All supermarkets have wheelchair access and toilets.
Training details: We have a two-monthly meeting for teh volunteers to get together and discuss how it is all working. We will give a 30 minute induction as to teh work of the Foodbank and how a collection event operates.
