Good neighbours tasks are many and varied and will depend on the needs of people using our services and the support needed in the local area as well as your skills and interests. However tasks may include chatting to older people, offering dementia friendly support, simple everyday practical tasks such as assisted shopping, providing transport and /or social outings, helping with the care of pets, delivering books and collecting prescriptions.
You'll carry out safe, warm and well checks, which includes indentifying a cold home, physical or mental deterioration and safety issues including smoke alarm checks and reporting back concerns.

Our volunteers make a difference to the lives of people in their communities, helping them to live independently and with dignity or to others, caught up in emergencies and disasters. Providing much needed support and services to people who need them most e.g. accompanied shopping, p.o., banking trips, writing letters, filling in forms, reading, helping at social and/or lunch clubs, driving to appointments and clinics, hairdressers, supporting annual events e.g. Flu fairs, soup & sandwiches, Christmas party/lunch. Supporting Blue Light organisations in emergencies.
Experience required: Friendly personality, understanding of the needs of older people, ability to observe and identify areas of concern. Good communication and listening skills, non judgemental attitude and good confidentialilty.
