Description

Dumfries and Galloway Befriending Project is currently expanding into Newton Stewart and the Machars. If you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you.
D&G Befriending Project recruits, trains and matches adult volunteers with vulnerable young people aged between 8 and 18 on a one-to-one basis, providing support, friendship and a positive role model. Training, support and all out-of-pocket expenses are provided.

Organisation aims and objectives

To recruit, train and match adult volunteers with vulnerable young people (aged 8 -18 years) as a means of making a positive difference in the young person's life.

2 hours per Week. Minimum Commitment: 6 Month

Restrictions

Maturity required.
Experience required: Trustworthy, reliable, caring, friendly, enjoy the company of young people, positive attitude.
Travel details: Throughout Newton Stewart and the Machars - depending on the home address of the young person.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses details: 25p per mile using own car. All other expenses including public transport costs - reimbursed as soon as volunteer submits a claim.
Training details: Induction training consists of six evening sessions, covering all aspects of volunteer befriending. Once matched with a young person, volunteers will have six weekly placement meetings; access to regular supp attend volunteer support meetings & training.
