Carpet Bowls Helper

  • VO38886

Caledonia Housing Association has 8 Sheltered Housing Schemes across Dundee providing accommodation for older people. Each Housing Scheme is very much a small community of older people. This role is to enable tenants to play carpet bowls.

We are recruiting a friendly and sociable volunteer to organise Carpet Bowls at Joan Bartlett House, Monday evening and Sidlaw House, Wednesday evening for about two hours. This is a small group of older people who play carpet bowls. What they need is someone physically able to roll out the indoor carpet; move the chairs and tables; help make the teas and coffees; and washing up at the end.

Can you help?

Organisation aims and objectives

Caledonia Housing Association provides sustainable homes and a range of services for its tenants. The majority of its tenants are older people, from retirement age up. The volunteer programme is designed to support services for older people or those disadvantaged through disability or ill-health, living in the Dundee area.

This would be about 2 hours, once a week, either Monday or Wednesday evening 6.45pm to about 8.30pm.

Experience required: This would suit someone with a friendly, fun and outgoing personality. Someone who enjoys socialising, with empathy and an interest in supporting older people. You would need to be able to lift and role out the bowls carpet, which is fairly heavy. Also move chairs and tables. Most of all, we are looking form someone who is reliable.
