Our clients at the ‘Fiveways’ centre experience an inclusive, outcome focused social setting which allows them to live life to the fullest. The centre exists to support the client’s needs and as a volunteer you have a great opportunity to contribute to the warmth, laughter and special moments.

You will be involved in activities such as carpet bowls, arts & crafts, dominos, board games, jig saws, music and dancing, serving meals, tidying of the hall and assisting clients to and from transport. As a valued member of our team our client’s happiness will be a direct result of your contribution at the centre.

We will support you through training and supervision where you will be able to reflect and develop your skills. Overall you have the opportunity within our team to experience a real sense of self-worth, knowing you have had a positive impact on the day to day lives of our clients.

Organisation aims and objectives

Age Concern Dundee exists to promote the wellbeing and social inclusion of older people by: identifying their changing needs, through consultation with them and their carers; and active involvement in policy planning and development of services. We provide day care for older people in our purpose built centre located at Fiveways, Caird Avenue. We provide clients with companionship in a safe and secure environment and provide a variety of activities.

Volunteer support at the centre is Mon-Fri from 10.00 – 15.30. Days and times of attendance are flexible and can be discussed with the care team co-ordinator.

Experience required: There is no specific experience or skills needed for the post, we just expect our team to really get involved in activities centred around client interests, such as dominos, jig saws, art & crafts, music and dancing, carpet bowls etc. Further to this we like our volunteers to have an empathic, non-judgemental and understanding outlook when working with the clients
