We are looking for volunteers with the ability to talk to, play with and have fun with adults and children. Duties would involve reading/telling stories, playing games, getting messy, some outdoor activities, working with the staff helping the development of children and parents and also being involved in setting up and clearing away the play room.

Volunteers are a very valued part of our organisation and this is a great opportunity to share your own skills and for your own personal development.

Organisation aims and objectives

We aim to support parents and their children under 5 years. In Mid Craigie many parents are unemployed resulting in low self esteem and self confidence. Juvenile crime is high. The local school, including the nursery department, has the highest exclusion rate in Dundee. We will provide activities for both children and parents designed to improve social wellbeing.










Group meets 9am - 3.30pm Mondays and Tuesdays. Flexible hours.


Many of the parents are very young and can have difficult patterns of behaviour which could be difficult for a younger person to manage.
Experience required: Skills and/or interests in - childrens story telling/music/art and craft/physical play. An interest in child development and working to encourage positive parent/child interactions. Experience with young children would be valued but is not necessary.
Travel details: St Ninians Church, Kingsway East, Dundee. This is easily reached by taking a bus to Asda's in Mid Craigie and walking along to the church.

Training details: Volunteers will be assigned to an established worker, shown the buillding and resource areas, and be given the plans and information required for the day. Informal and formal training by DCC will be on offer.
