The volunteer would attend fundraising meetings help plan and organise events. The fundraising meetings are normally once per month for about 1 hour. The volunteer may be asked to take the minutes at the meeting and type them up. We are looking for a volunteer that has ideas for fundraising and is enthusiastic in helping the charity raise funds.
Our main aim is to assist in alleviating social isolation and loneliness and offer a supportive environment and work to offer a wide range of social activities and events - all designed to encourage adults and older people to lead happy, independent lives. This can impact on people’s lives by improving confidence, by encouraging interaction and contributing to the making and sustaining of friendships. A nutritious three course meal which is cooked on the premises also assists in meeting the dietary needs of service users who attend. The Day Service also supports carers to enable them to take a break from the caring role in knowing that there loved one is being supported.
Experience required: An understanding/appreciation of older and vulnerable people’s issues; Ability to be a team player or work on own initiative when necessary; Ability to be flexible; Offer empathy, patience and a listening ear; Good knowledge of Dundee area would be helpful but not necessary.

Training details: We will provide a buddy for you so you have someone you can approach if you have difficulties. You can also come direct to management if you have any issues. We will also offer supervision every 3 months to give you the opportunity to discuss any training needs you require and to give you a chance to reflect on your work.
