The Ardler Village Trust operates a successful Charity Shop to help raise funds for local projects. The Trust is now looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work as Shop Assistants where they can meet new friends and learn valuable skills. You will join a team of cheerful workers undertaking a variety of roles including sorting donated goods, creating window displays, marketing the shop, serving customers and cash handling. The AVT will also seek to support our volunteers through training and guidance should that be required. The shop aims to not only provide quality, low cost household and clothing items for local people it will also act as site to train volunteers and create a source of income for the Ardler Village Trust from which it can continue its community development work.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Ardler Village Trust is a resident led charity that aims to relieve poverty and create a sustainable community in its target area of Ardler Village, Dundee. The Trust was established by a partnership that includes local residents, Sanctuary Scotland HA, Dundee City Council and local organisations working within the area.










4 hours per week for minimum of 6 months.


Experience required: Ideally the volunteer would have some retail experience and enjoy working with the people.
Travel details: 95 Turnberry Avenue, Ardler, Dundee
Minimum age: 16


Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers can claim food allowance of £2 per day if they are working for full day (6 hours).
Taster available: Yes
Training details: We are keen to support the candidate in any training that might help them undertake this role including cash handling, running a charity shop etc.
