Description

Our drivers are expected to complete the daily bus checklist form. Ensure bus has enough fuel for journey/phone is charged and has credit. Drivers to complete general inspection of vehicle, reporting any faults or damage to management as soon as possible. Take part in the morning team meeting. Drivers are responsible for securing walking aids and ensuring all seat belts are fastened, doors are closed and portable step is on board (where applicable) before moving off. To take charge of safety and movement of any other volunteers and service users while travelling on bus and ensure all staff are wearing fluorescent jackets. Bus hygiene and checking safety appliances are in place and complete, while securing gates on return to the centre are all part of the day. Volunteer should read notice board for updates regarding training or fundraising activities. Drivers to assist with other tasks when necessary.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our main aim is to assist in alleviating social isolation and loneliness and offer a supportive environment and work to offer a wide range of social activities and events - all designed to encourage adults and older people to lead happy, independent lives. This can impact on people’s lives by improving confidence, by encouraging interaction and contributing to the making and sustaining of friendships. A nutritious three course meal which is cooked on the premises also assists in meeting the dietary needs of service users who attend. The Day Service also supports carers to enable them to take a break from the caring role in knowing that there loved one is being supported.

Restrictions

Insurance purposes. A full driving licence, with no previous exclusions and no more than 6 penalty points is required.
Experience required: A happy disposition and a willingness to learn new skills. Reliability.
Travel details: Mid-Lin Day Centre. 59 Pitkerro Drive Dundee, DD4 8AT. Bus number 15, 17, 32, 33 or 36 from Dundee City Centre.

Training details: All volunteers will be encouraged to apply for I.L.A in order that First Aid, Moving & Handling of people and a Understanding dementia Course can be applied for. Ongoing training and support provided.
