Walk Leader

Want to be involved in your local community getting people active? We are looking for people to lead health walks as part of the Walk Aberdeen programme. Full training is provided in the form of a one day fully recognised walk leader training course. On completion of this the volunteer will have the opportunity to support or lead walking groups in your local community, encouraging others to get active and enjoy some social exercise.

This position is a great opportunity to be active in your local area. Full support is available to assist you taking on this role and gradually build the confidence to be a walk leader.

Organisation aims and objectives

Sport Aberdeen is a charitable trust committed to providing a rewarding sporting experience for every age and ability. As a non-profit organisation revenue is used to continue improving our facilities and services for our customers. Sport Aberdeen support the delivery of the following local sports objectives from the sport and physical activity strategy 'Fit for the Future': •Increase participation in sport to provide support for athletes and reward excellence •Ensure high-quality, well-managed sport facilities in Aberdeen •Recognise the contribution of sport, culture and arts in promoting the area as a tourist destination •Recognise the role of sport and the arts in tackling anti-social behaviour We also work towards integrating any local, regional and national objectives that are relevant to the provision of sport within the city.

Training details: Good support and training is provided to all volunteers. Includes one day fully recognised (by the British Heart Foundation/Paths for All) walk leader training course. Full ongoing support is also available through the Development Officer.
