Pastoral Care Vol Visitor, Spiritual Care Service

Volunteers will visit and befriend patients in acute hospital wards, and maintain contact with them during their inpatient stay (or in the case of mental health services the volunteer support could continue into the community). Volunteers will respect the patients personal belief’s and provide a basic level of emotional support.

Organisation aims and objectives

NHS Lanarkshire is the local provider of health services in Lanarkshire. We provide services in 3 general hospitals and a large number of small community hospitals situated throughout the Lanarkshire area. There are many different volunteer roles available in lots of different locations.


Experience required: Although volunteers may be practising members of a religious faith, this is not essential to become a volunteer. * Be able to deal with people with personal belief systems that are different from your own * Be able to spend time with patients who
Travel details: Volunteers would visit patients in the acute hospitals and in the mental health services as identified by the chaplains.
