Do you have a couple of hours spare to help young people in your local community? We are looking for volunteers to support the operation of the Eaglesham Scout troop (age 10 – 14) in delivering our programme of activities. We provide young people with exciting and challenging experiences and then help them use those experiences in their personal and social development. The level of your involvement is entirely up to you and could vary from helping out for a couple of hours each week at the local Scout Hall to participation in outdoor weekend events & challenges.

Organisation aims and objectives

Scouting is a worldwide Movement, with a membership of over 28 million. In Scotland, The Scout Association is responsible for the provision of Scouting; challenge and adventure for young people aged between 6 and 25, including males and females. It is all about fun with a purpose – helping members to fulfil their potential as individuals and active members of society. We believe that young people develop most when they are learning by doing, when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves. Everything we do is guided by the balanced programme which is a continuous progression of training, activities, badges and awards for young people from 6 to 25.

The level of commitment is flexible, but we would look for at least a couple of hours each week. The group meets every Tuesday evening from 19.30 to 21.00 at the Eaglesham Scout Hall.
