Interested in inspiring young people in the STEM subjects? Join a national network of 32,000 STEM Ambassadors in the UK and 5,000 in Scotland! STEM Ambassadors volunteer to inspire the next generation and help young people to develop the skills, confidence and mindset to build successful futures in STEM. You can volunteer as a STEM Ambassador to give career talks, run STEM clubs, provide advice on STEM subjects, run STEM workshops, help young people with STEM competitions - anything really which will ignite their imagination. STEM Ambassadors can find their own opportunities to volunteer or can search the STEM Ambassador digital platform for both face to face and online requests placed by teachers and community groups. The platform will connect you with the teacher/community group making the request and you can message to arrange the activity. All of your volunteering can be recorded on the platform to build a detailed summary of what you have been involved with. All STEM Ambassadors undergo a PVG Disclosure check and undertake online induction training before being authorised to work with young people. The programme is funded through the UK Government, with SSERC being the local Scottish delivery partner. SSERC will provide you with regular updates, training sessions and networking opportunities to keep your knowledge up to date and relevant for working in schools and community groups.

We have a great volunteer opportunity to join our excellent team of volunteers as a Cathedral Caretaker is responsible for the general upkeep and presentation of the Cathedral and associated properties. Duties will include: *Routine maintenance and heavier-duty cleaning, supporting the existing cleaning team when appropriate; *Conducting scheduled safety checks and tests in accordance with statutory requirements; *Being a responsible key-holder for emergency access to the buildings *Preparing venues and providing access to buildings for external-hire events; securing premises after the event; *Being the primary contact and providing access to buildings for contractors and officials visiting the Cathedral; *Ensuring all boilers / radiators are working efficiently and boilers are regularly inspected/serviced by a qualified tradesperson. *Setting of heating in accordance with Cathedral diary of events Relevant training and good support is provided to all volunteers, with all help greatly appreciated. One of Scotland's Great Trails, The Dava Way, is maintained entirely by volunteers...Could you join the team for the occasional Saturday? The Dava Way links the 24 miles between Forres and Grantown mostly following the route of the dismantled Highland Railway Line and is used by thousands of walkers, cyclists and horse riders each year. It is maintained by members of the Forres-based Dava Way Association and funded by donations and occasional grants from local and national charities. The Association organises monthly maintenance days to clear drainage and cut back undergrowth and fallen trees so that the path remains usable. As well as maintenance tasks, the volunteers are progressively improving the track as and when funding permits. Key to the ongoing success of the Dava Way is the team of volunteers who give their time to maintain the trail. Please consider joining the team on a regular or even occasional basis.
