Description

An exciting and rewarding opportunity where suitable volunteers will support those families expecting a baby and/or those who have children under 5 years old to live a healthier lifestyle and to engage in services/activities. Volunteers will support families who need extra help and who live in rural South Lanarkshire to attend vital health care appointments, to attend our own activities/courses and to attend community activities. Volunteers will support parents to be/parents to engage with services/agencies to enable them to become better parents and thus giving their babies/children the best start in life. The volunteer will build up a trusting, positive relationship with families and support them to achieve their goals set in their individual action plan. The volunteer will help the family integrate better into their community and will also involved in the delivery, evaluation and developments of this intensive family support programme.

Healthy Valleys is a community led health improvement organisation located in rural South Lanarkshire which aims to promote health and well being opportunities in order to reduce health inequalities.

2-4 hours per week/fortnight. Flexible to suit volunteer.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be 17yrs or over, have a clean driving license and access to car. Volunteers subject to PVG Disclosure Check.
Experience required: Must have clean driving licence and access to car with business insurance; excellent organisational skills; experience of working and engaging with vulnerable families; good knowledge of healthy eating, mental health, addictions, breastfeeding etc
Travel details: This volunteering takes place in SOUTH LANARKSHIRE Throughout rural Clydesdale

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We pay travel expenses, public transport or car mileage fortnightly and also any out of pocket expenses incurred whilst carrying out volunteering duties.
Training details: All Volunteers will be given an induction into Healthy Valleys, regular supervision and access to training courses relevant to their project.
