Activity Group Supporter

Description

Volunteers will be required to support group members to organise meetings, including the arrangements of guest speakers.
To serve tea, coffee etc.
To engage service users in conversation, offering a listening ear and assist the group to plan to meet a variety of needs and interests.
To act as sighted guide / communication support whilst on group outings.

Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a place where people with a visual or hearing loss, their friends, families, carers and the wider community can access quality services and advice from our partner organisations. The Centre is inclusive, accessible and aims to promote the involvement of the wider community and build positive relationships across Forth Valley.

Experience required: Previous knowledge or willingness to learn about issues affecting people with a sensory impairment. A friendly, approachable, patient manner. Reliable but flexible.
Travel details: At Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Camelon, Falkirk.
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers are covered for travel expenses and general subsistence (not including childcare). This is paid monthly by the BACS system. However individual arrangements can be made.
Training details: All new volunteers will receive two part induction training covering awareness of sensory impairment and sighted guide, along with practical exercises. Role specific training for volunteers will be offered in smaller groups. Volunteers will receive face
