Description

Volunteers in this role work alongside staff. Duties include organising games and activities; supervising particular children; setting up and clearing up play spaces etc. Volunteers can take on any of the roles that they have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to fulfil. Volunteers should not undertake unsupervised responsibilities, such as escorting on transport without the agreement of the project manager. Where a volunteer has particular skills, these can be used – for example, a volunteer with an appropriate First Aid qualification could administer first-aid at an event with prior agreement.

Organisation aims and objectives

Plus supports disabled children and young people (0-35yrs) to have access to play, leisure and sports activities. This also provides parents and cares with regular short breaks.

Volunteers in this role should be available for at least one session per month for at least one year.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be aged 16 or over. Previous experience of working with children is essential – for example as a ‘buddy’ at school, a volunteer at a Sunday School etc.
Experience required: This role is suited to people who enjoy being with children and young people, are well organised and reliable.
Travel details: Volunteer play/youthworkers should be able to work at events across the Stirling Council area.
