Description

The work is started after 2 days intensive training. It entails giving the first contact interview for couples who have requested Counselling. The volunteer will have to be welcoming, accepting and supportive, whilst assessing the couple's need of counselling and the appropriate use of our organisation or referral to another agency. The skill also requires competent information gathering skills as well as good communication skills written and oral. COSCA Counselling skills or equivalent certificate is required.

Organisation aims and objectives

Relate Forth Valley provides support to people in Relationships that are undergoing difficulties. We counsel across the community spectrum including ethnic minorities, couples, single and separated divorced persons, and people in same sex relationships. We provide family support to help ensure a stable home life for the children where conflict and stress are relieved through counselling. We also support people undergoing mental health and physical health conditions. We also provide psychosexual therapy.

Experience required: Preferably COSCA skills course or other relevant counselling skills certificate. Empathy, accepting, discretion and understanding essential. Intake Workers must be non judgemental and objective.
Travel details: Stirling, Alloa and Falkirk Counselling Centres. All 3 centres have easy access to motorways, bus and train services.
Minimum age: 18
