Description

You will assist the driver with shopping deliveries and collection of payment for the shopping. Our customers live throughout West Lothian. As helper, you would be responsible for cash handling in particular.

Organisation aims and objectives

To support older people to remain independent at home for as long as they choose to do so, by providing a vital grocery & delivery service, as well as completing household tasks within the home via our Extra Service and also providing an outreach library service. We offer the following volunteering roles - drivers, helpers on our delivery vans and shoppers, as well as volunteers with our Extra Service and library service.

Restrictions

Under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, you will be police checked
Experience required: Full and clean driving license (for drivers); good people skills; experience of working with the elderly preferred. If you have volunteered before, this is helpful but not necessary
Travel details: Our office is located in Livingston, but we will be working with customers and supermarkets across West Lothian. Mileage costs to get to the office or a supermarket will be paid at 25p/mile and other out of pocket expenses (bus fares etc.) will also be covered.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Public transport will be covered and 25p/mile reimbursed for use of own vehicle. Expenses are paid once a month, mid month.
Training details: Volunteers will receive training and information about the background of the charity and how the Service operates. They will also shadow more experienced volunteers or members of staff.
