Volunteer Driver - Transport to Health Volunteer Driver Service

The driver (while adhering to Transport Scotland Covid 19 travel regulations) shall assist older adults from their house door to the vehicle and ensure the individual is safely seated and secure in the vehicle, ensuring any mobility aid is stored safely. Taking the individual to destination and ensuring that the passenger is escorted safely to appointment location (e.g. patient waiting room). The driver will usually be asked to wait and return the passenger safely home. You should be a safe driver, have good communication skills, a good geographical knowledge of Central Scotland and be interested in assisting older people. This is an exceptionally popular service.

Organisation aims and objectives

To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Greater Shotts area.Involve local people in defining, supporting, managing + using existing services to improve their health. Establish a food co-op, breakfast clubs, Health and leisure initiatves. Creation of Healthy Living Centre and eight information points - centre to include - Food co-op, cyber/healthy eating cafe, smoking cessation, drugs + alcohol counselling, Family Planning











Full Driving Licence - Own car – Insured and Taxed, current MOT, full PVG and driving licence check carried out prior to Volunteering.

Travel details: From residences throughout Lanarkshire to various hospitals, health centres and clinics throughout Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Edinburg

Expenses details: Yes, 45p per operational mile at the end of each month.
Training details: After a short interview, driving licence check and PVG check are completed. Monday to Friday Mornings and afternoons. All levels of participation are appreciated.
