Volunteer Driver - Health Appointment Transport Service

Description

The driver shall assist older adults to mobile from the house door to the vehicle and ensure the individual is safely seated and secure in the vehicle, ensuring any mobility aid ( wheelchair, zimmer is stored safely.

Taking the individual to destination will ensure the passenger is escorted safely to appointment location ( e.g patient waiting room). If appropriate the driver will be asked to wait and return the passenger safely home. You should be a safe driver,have good communication skills, and interested in older people.

Organisation aims and objectives

To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Greater Shotts area.Involve local people in defining, supporting, managing + using existing services to improve their health. Establish a food co-op, breakfast clubs, Health and leisure initiatves. Creation of Healthy Living Centre and eight information points - centre to include - Food co-op, cyber/healthy eating cafe, smoking cessation, drugs + alcohol counselling, Family Planning
