Description

The volunteer shall assist in preparing and delivering structured health improvement and diversionary workshops to meet the needs of the young people who attend the drop in.
The volunteer will be expected to engage with the young people and offer guidance and support where appropriate to increase the social and personal development of the young people. Volunteer should be from the Shotts/Wishaw area.

Organisation aims and objectives

To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Greater Shotts area.Involve local people in defining, supporting, managing + using existing services to improve their health. Establish a food co-op, breakfast clubs, Health and leisure initiatves. Creation of Healthy Living Centre and eight information points - centre to include - Food co-op, cyber/healthy eating cafe, smoking cessation, drugs + alcohol counselling, Family Planning

This opportunity takes place on a Wednesday evening from 6pm-9pm.

Restrictions

Age over 21 Willingness to undergo PVG check Willingness to undergo training
Experience required: No particular skills and experience required, although volunteers should be responsible individuals and able to set a good example for the young people attending.
Travel details: Where? Getting Better Together SHIP project When? 6pm- 9pm every Wednesday Occasionally other opportunities may arise to develop and deliver social activites such as bus outings/ residentials
