Information Service Volunteer

  • VO32775

Well-informed handle a range of public queries over telephone, email, and in person when visitors come to our Motherwell resource centre. We provide a resource of relevant literature on mental health which we make available to the public in answer to queries. Within this office we work alongside Experience Counts, a service which comprises peer support and community link workers. Well-informed should identify if people might be suited to these services. Additionally we deliver an information service throughout North Lanarkshire and signpost to services in the area which may help to provide social engagement.

Well-informed volunteers attend regular information stalls at libraries, health and arts centres to promote our service, engage with the public and provide literature addressing relevant mental health issues. Volunteers might also work within our office: answering queries and performing administrative tasks such as logging enquiries and organising resources. Volunteers might also support our community link and peer support workers in delivering mental health awareness presentations and providing recovery groups. Volunteers will have an opportunity to undertake further relevant training, specific to working in mental health.

Within these parameters, the role can be tailored to a volunteer’s specific interest and we welcome applicants with lived mental health experience. All would be applicants are welcome to contact our information officer should they have any further queries regarding the role.

The Well Informed Info Service office has wheelchair access.
