Volunteer Park Ranger

  • VO31986

At Duthie park you will have the opportunity to work at one of best purposely designed gardens in Scotland. Opportunities can either be inside the famous Winter Gardens or outside in the Park.

Working alongside our Park Rangers you will be helping to deliver or prepare activities for children through to adults. Activities could include trails, crafts, game, delivering educational material. Depending on period of placement, the majority of the work during term time is with schools, then during holidays we provide fun activities for under 12s.

An ideal opportunity for those who are keen to work outdoors, with children and an interest in the environment.

You will be made to feel very welcome as we are a very friendly, dynamic group and greatly appreciate help that volunteers give. This is a great, enjoyable opportunity to help in the local community and be involved in assisting in the exciting development of one of the best gardens in Scotland.

Organisation aims and objectives

Duthie Park is one of the best purposely and designed parks in Scotland. The park has undergone a major restoration to help restore many of its features to their original forms when the Park was opened in 1883. As a key part of the Duthie Parks success, the Park wants to extend its voluntary opportunities in Gardening and Park Rangers. As a volunteer you will learn new skills in gardening, learn about the local environment, history of the park, engage with other members of the community, and provide opportunities for those who may want to return to employment or be a bit more active in the outdoors.
