Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person(s) to work with us in our CIS (Connect Include Support) service assisting the members to get to and from our groups as well as participation in the group activities. CIS is a support service for older people with hearing and sight loss and we provide social group opportunities across Aberdeen City.

North East Sensory Services (NESS) is the leading provider of fully integrated joint sensory services in the North East of Scotland. Through our wide range of services, we work to achieve independence for blind and deaf people.

Frequency and commitment details

Flexible-various times available. All help makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Restrictions

Experience required: Good communication skills with an interest in supporting older people. Able to drive and have a clean driving licence and access to own vehicle (expenses are paid). Willing to learn about, or have experience of, sensory loss. An open and interested attitude with a willingness to learn as training will be provided.
Travel details: We run groups every week day afternoon throughout Aberdeen City.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Travel expenses are paid monthly by BACS on production of a completed expenses form.
Training details: Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. Basic training involves Adult Protection, Sensory Awareness, manual handling, social inclusion, wheelchair use and accessing cars. Ongoing training is geared around the service needs at any particular time.
