Interested in getting involved in a vibrant community-led sports project? Albury Outdoor Sports Centre is a small community facility in the centre of Aberdeen which is a working partnership with residents in the community and Sport Aberdeen and run by volunteers.
We are keen to recruit volunteers to help cover shifts at the centre during our summer season opening hours, (Mon to Fri 3 – 9pm, and Sat & Sun 1-5pm, April to September). Shifts are split into two hour blocks, with volunteers working in pairs.

General duties can include putting out equipment, taking bookings, operating the till, and potentially opening or closing the centre (depending on the shift signed up for).
Although Albury is a sports centre, no sports experience is required although volunteering at the Centre can earns membership discounts!

The Albury Outdoor Sports Centre has been run by volunteers since May 2011, and usage of the centre has increased year on year, due to the dedication and commitment of the volunteers involved. The centre would not be able to open without the continued support of volunteers, and new volunteers are always welcomed.
Our main aims are to:
(i) promote the Centre within the local community and to encourage all to join regardless of ability or age, and
(ii) maximise usage of the Centre through development of services and facilities.

Albury Outdoor Sports Centre is a working partnership with residents in the community and Sport Aberdeen and is run by volunteers. The centre provides facilities for bowling, tennis and putting. Our main aims are to: -provide a quality facility for putting, tennis and bowling in Aberdeen and -to promote sport within the community.

This volunteer opportunity is generally on offer between April – October each year.
Experience required: No experience is needed as training is provided. We welcome volunteers with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. This role involves dealing with the general public so an interest in customer service is desirable (but not essential)!

Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses details: There are wheelchair accessible toilets. Travel expenses are not available.
Training details: New volunteers will be given a comprehensive written guide to read plus a tour of the premises. Training is on the job alongside an experienced volunteer. Telephone support is available from other volunteers and committee members.

Edinburgh Kiltwalk - Holyrood Park, Victoria Park & Musselburgh

Kiltwalk are looking for volunteers to provide event support at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk start lines at Holyrood Park, Victoria Park and Fisherrow Links as well as our first Pit Stop at Musselburgh Rugby Club. Tasks will include helping with set up, welcoming and encouraging walkers, assisting at the info tent and luggage drop off point, directing walkers and handing out snacks, water and merchandise. Shift start times are between 7am and 8:30am and shifts last either 4 hours or 8 hours. Flexibility can be offered if unable to commit to the full duration. Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event with over 145,000 people taking part since 2016. The kind-hearted Kiltwalk community have taken big strides for charities close to their hearts and together with The Hunter Foundation have managed to raise a staggering £42.5 million to date. All funds raised have been distributed to 3,330 Scottish Charities. Our walkers rely on the encouragement and motivation they receive from our volunteers and many report that this is what ultimately gets them across the finish line. Be part of a feel-good event, soak up the Kiltwalk atmosphere and meet like-minded people. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and gain valuable experience in the events industry. It truly is a rewarding day!

General Volunteer

Tarbolton Community Council is a voluntary organisation made up of local residents, each with a genuine interest in the community. Their main role is to be representative through consultation with the local community, and make it known to the local authority and other public bodies the views of local people on all matters affecting them. If you're interested to help out our community in Tarbolton doing various tasks depending on what's happening in our village. Some tasks may include: - Gardening - Participating in events - Maintaining public areas - and any other tasks that might be needed by the TCC We welcome all volunteers, even if it is just for a couple of hours a week or a month. The Carrick Community Food Garden (CCFG) invites you to discover the joy of growing fruit and vegetables, building and creating with members of your community garden, where everyone shares the work and the harvest. Being part of a community garden is a great activity to do by yourself or with friends and family and a good opportunity to get outdoors, learn new skills, meet new and like-minded people, keep active, improve mental health and contribute towards your community and the environment. All work is supervised, tasks could include clearing the ground in preparation for food growing, planting, seed sowing, weeding, digging, harvesting produce, building raised beds, shifting compost and general site maintenance or occasional help with events and sharing ideas. We share the harvest with our community food pantry, contributors, the groups we support and when possible we cook and share meals on site. We encourage people of all ages and levels of fitness, from complete beginners to experienced growers there is a way for you to contribute to your community garden. At CCFG we are very flexible, you can drop in to learn more and see what it's like before you decide to contribute your time and energy.
