Description

Volunteers will help support the day to day running of our retail shops - raising vital funds and awareness for Kilbryde Hospice. As a volunteer you will be involved in various tasks such as operating the till; tagging stock; sorting, preparing and replenishing stock; sales floor maintenance and general housekeeping around the shop. You will be expected to engage with the public shopping within the retail shop, attend regular support and training sessions and adhere to the policies and procedures of Kilbryde Hospice incl. absence procedures.

Organisation aims and objectives

We are a charity that exists to provide care and support to people affected by life limiting illnesses and as a result of tremendous local support from both the business and private sector we continue to strive towards our goal to establish a local hospice in South Lanarkshire and are about to move into our new build premises based at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, providing a range of services to patients along with support for their families.

4 hours per day. (Shifts are coordinated via a weekly rota, however times are flexible to suit).

Restrictions

Please note that we accept volunteers under 16yrs, however must be accompanied by a parent / guardian.
Experience required: Friendly, helpful and approachable manner; enjoy interacting with others; willingness to work as part of a team and a willingness to undertake any training as required.
Travel details: This volunteering takes place in SOUTH LANARKSHIRE in East Kilbride
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We reimburse travel at a public transport rate up to £3.50 per day, we pay by cheque on receipt of a completed expense claim form and original tickets. We can reimburse mileage, this must be agreed by the retail manager.
Training details: Organisation and role specific inductions will be given along with grief, loss and bereavement training, as well as access to on-going training opportunities.
