Our Board members provide essential leadership, guidance and governance from their own professional or life experiences. They also play an important role as ambassadors and can offer particular skills to the organisation. We welcome interest from those who can be passionate about our work with children young people, families and the community.

Do you want to have a different Board experience, where we ensure that it is about you as a person before your role? We want to add to our team those who have passion and enthusiasm; able to contribute to developing and growing the organisation and giving strategic direction and focus.
Here is an opportunity to apply your own knowledge and experience, ideally from a senior position. We want to add experience and knowledge to our existing established Board or 6 members in the areas of Finance, Education and Social Work.
The minimum commitment as a Board member is a few hours each month, to attend 8 Board meetings a year and also engage in Board discussions and occasional working groups.

Organisation aims and objectives

We recruit and train volunteer befrienders for vulnerable young people. All are experiencing some difficulty in their lives such as health, problems in the home, isolation in the community, addictions and offending behaviour, disability or bereavement. Volunteers receive full training and expenses.

Frequency and commitment details

The minimum commitment as a Board member is a few hours each month, to attend 8 Board meetings a year and also engage in Board discussions and occasional working groups.

References and PVG will be required.
Experience required: Experience required: Most Importantly for COVEY you will bring the right character as well as competence to role. You will have a 'can do' attitude, able to make things happen. An interest in the lives of young people with experience in the fields of Social Work/Social Care, Finance or Education.
Travel details: Meetings are every 6 weeks on a Tuesday evening (generally in Hamilton). Board members can also meet at other times in sub groups or with staff members between the meetings.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We pay mileage of 45p per mile or public transport costs.
Training details: Board members receive an induction from the staff team. Ongoing development opportunities are part of the agenda when Board members meet.
