Volunteer Minibus Driver

As a Volunteer Minibus Driver for Blantyre Volunteer Group, you will help a wide range of community groups – including those involving children, youth, older people, and people with disabilities to access social and recreational activities.

The skills and references required, and the training provided is to ensure the care and safety of the people you will be driving. Volunteers will be put through their MIDAS if required. D1 on volunteers license is preferable.

Volunteers must be reliable, friendly and caring, and have a good sense of humour.

Organisation aims and objectives

The company's objects are: 1. To relieve the poverty of individuals and families on low income or experiencing financial difficulties. 2. To promote the benefit and welfare of people who are older, have a physical or learning disability, those who are progressively or chronically ill or are experiencing mental health problems and their families/carers.










Times are flexible and can vary. (Mon - Sun) Min commitment: 6 months


Volunteers must be 25yrs or over, have a D1 on their license. PVG Checks will be required.
Experience required: Volunteers must - • be between 25 and 70 years old. • have the D1 category on their driving licence • have held a full driving licence for a minimum of two years • have their licence checked through DVLA. • complete Disclosure Check (PVG) • successfully complete MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training. • provide the names of two character referees.
Travel details: Various locations throughout Central Scotland. Office based at C/o Blantyre Miners Resource Centre, 1 Calder Street, Blantyre, G72 0AU

Expenses details: Travel expenses are reimbursed (daily)
Training details: Volunteers will receive short induction training and MIDAS training.
