  • VO31002

Description

Drivers are asked to transport members to and from various activities held at LDVG and on outings and group activities to various events and destinations. The driver will drive the group’s wheelchair accessible minibus and work with an appointed escort (if required). We also transport for care homes, school activities, for individual members of the public and for external hires from other community groups in the area. Passengers may be frail; elderly; children or other vulnerable people. Volunteers need to be between 25-70 years old with a clean; current driving licence. We now have 4 minibuses for hire or self-hire, 2 of our new buses can be driven on a standard car licence.

Organisation aims and objectives

Larkhall and District Volunteer Group (LDVG) promote the health and wellbeing of the community in the Larkhall and surrounding areas. They strive to provide services, activities and volunteering opportunities for members of the community. The services provided are a lunch club, call line service for individuals suffering social isolation, community transport, support groups for individuals to meet-up and take part in activities and a handyperson service for elderly individuals requiring small D.I.Y jobs. There are also IT facilities within the centre where LDVG aim to support individuals in using computers to a basic level. The group mainly operates in and around Larkhall, Stonehouse, Ashgill and Netherburn, but also provides assistance to people further afield when possible.
