About Opportunity
Volunteers are required to use their own cars to convey older/frail folk from their home to medically related appointments, i.e. Chemist, Dentist, Chiropodist, etc. This service is only available in Lerwick. All drivers are entitled to claim motor mileage allowance.

Restrictions

Volunteers need to be fit enough to help frail clients in and out of the car if necessary. Training in manual handling is available.
Experience required: Full driving licence/being able to communicate well/an understanding of the needs of clients/to work as part of a team/to be able to work unsupervised/
Travel details: Lerwick
Minimum age: 21

Support

Expenses details: All volunteers regardless of the role they undertake are entitled to claim legitimate expenses e.g. mileage @ 40p per mile.
Training details: A volunteer Co-ordiantor is available to support, as well as the Services Manager
