Description

We provide joinery and woodwork activities for our clients to support their jounrney of recovery. At the Wisecraft Joinery Workshop our clients are supported to create and repair furniture, garden pieces and small craft items. The activities provide a foundation for our clients build self confidence and gain skills which may support their recovery and possibly lead to employment. We have an opportunity for a woodwork assistant to join our team and help our clients. Volunteers develop good working relationships with clients, providing support and guidance in the use of tools and equipment under the direction of our joinery supervisor. It is desirable for you to have some DIY, woodwork or joinery skills are desirable.

Organisation aims and objectives

Wisecraft is a joinery and craft workshop & gallery offering therapeutic work in a supported setting to people in Strathmore with enduring and/or severe mental health problems.

Experience required: The role requires good listening skills, a pleasant personality and a good sense of humour. Be non judgemental, able to provide support and willing to work as part of a team. Knowledge of Joinery or woodwork is desirable but training can be provided.
