Description

The St Andrews Preservation Trust Museum is seeking a Volunteer Curatorial Assistant to conduct research into their historic house at 12 North Street, engage with the community through this research and support the care and management of museum objects that relate to the house and those that once lived there. They are seeking a volunteer who is comforable working alone as well as recruiting new volunteers to support with this research project.
The Museum Manager will support the Volunteer Curatorial Assistant to complete an SVQ in Museums and Galleries Practice through the Museums Galleries Scotland ‘Upskilling and Celebrating Voluteers’ programme. No formal qualifications are required and the SVQ is fully funded. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply especially people with additional support needs, barriers to employment, those living with a disability, individuals from an ethnic minority background, women, young people, those who identify as LGBTQI+ and refugees.

Experience required: • An ability to learn about the history of the Museum, the Trust and the history of St Andrews. • Good communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the different needs of visitors. • Excellent time keeping and ability to keep to deadlines. • Basic IT skills – training is available if it is required by the candidate
Travel details: North Street, St Andrews, Fife, KY16 9PW and from home. The museum is on a local bus route served by the 9b St Andrews Town Service.
