Sewing Technician

Stitch the Gap requires a Sewing Technician. You will work under the direction of the Sewing Tutor and be expected to assist with the implementation of sewing patterns and sewing machine setup and troubleshooting. You will help ensure the smooth running of each class.
The successful candidate will be ready to work with all students to promote sewing skills, social and emotional development. The ideal candidate will be caring, patient and understanding.

The Sewing Technician must be attentive to the unique needs of each student and be able to identify proper solutions when students encounter issues.

You should have strong interpersonal skills, as you’ll be collaborating with the tutor, working with students of all ages and talking to families.

Experience required: Sewing machine and hand sewing skills Passion for sewing Experience working with children Excellent verbal and written communication skills Great collaboration and teamwork skills A positive, empathetic and loving attitude Driver preferred
Travel details: Kirkintilloch (Tuesday 4pm-7:30pm) and Bearsden/Milngavie (Thursday 4pm-7:30pm). Dates to be confirmed, however, hoping to start face-to-face classes week commencing Monday 17th August.

Training details: The volunteer will always be accompanied by the Sewing Tutor and will shadow and learn from them. Continued support and training will be provided.
