Connecting Scotland - Digital Champion

Connecting Scotland is a Scottish Government programme set up in response to coronavirus to help support people to get connected. During lockdown on-line support, information and social activities has become the norm. For some it's the only way to maintain some form of contact with the outside world.

We are looking for DIGITAL CHAMPION VOLUNTEERS to help local people get connected. Supporting people to learn how to do things like:

  • Set up an email account
  • Shop online
  • Use social platforms like zoom, teams or forums

You don’t need to be a computer whizz kid, just have a basic understanding of how to use computers and be interetsed in helping others learn. A full Digital Champions training programme will be offered along with a comprehensive digital toolkit.

Organisation aims and objectives

Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire (SCIO) connects and supports volunteering, social enterprising activity and voluntary groups to make East Renfrewshire a better place to live.


Experience required: Need to have basic computer skills
Travel details: Digital Champions deliver across East Renfrewshire. The majority of the programme will be delivered remotley via online chat and telephone calls. Very occasional face to face support will be offered following strict social distancing rules, and full PPE protection as appropriate.
Minimum age: 18


Expenses paid: Yes
Training details: All volunteers will be given on-line Digital Champion Training, comprhensive digital toolkits and on-going support through host organisastion.
