As Pantry Till Assistant, this role includes a level of responsibility serving customers at the till and cash handling, a level of previous retail experience is an advantage

Organisation aims and objectives

Fresh start runs a service for people who have experienced homelessness and have recently been offered a tenancy of their own. With the assistance of volunteers, Fresh Start offers both practical and emotional support through a variety of integrated services that are intended to help people manage the transition to independent living and to prevent the cyclical nature of homelessness.

4 hour shift 9am-1pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday or a part time shift of 2 hours 9am-11am, 11am-1pm Monday, Tuesday or Friday Minimum of 6 months.

Experience required: A good team worker, enthusiastic, and able to engage well with others Reliable and punctual Willing to learn and be flexible and take on a variety of tasks Helpful and willing to engage with the community and customers in an inclusive way In good health and physically active
Travel details: Fresh Start Pantry is located at 26-28 Ferry Road Drive Bus routes from Edinburgh are: 113, 21, 37, 47

Expenses details: Volunteer submits an expenses claim form
Training details: All volunteers receive a full induction and complete a shadow shift before starting to ensure they feel confident. Other training is offered, for example, REHIS food hygiene training.
